Kel & Christina Vaughan

We are in Mansfield, Texas, staying with Kel's brother.

Call me at 409-354-6528.
We are doing well, traveled all day Thursday (literally).
We haven't yet heard about our home, but the video from that area doesn't look too bad (near Ball High School).
We will return to Houston when power is restored at Christina's sister's house in Cypress.

When you post here, please put:
How I can get ahold of you (phone number, etc.)
What do you need in terms of your home
When you plan to return

Please use this information to reconnect with one another, as well.

See you soon!

In Jesus,

Kel

Hey. Tim and I are well. Our apartment and my mom's house in Houston are without power (and water at the apartment), so we are staying with some family friends. Our renter texted and said that she evacuated and is fine, but, of course, we don't know anything about our house yet. We'll be back on the island as soon as it opens and we can get off work to get down there. We will be happy to help with clean up at your places as well. This storm reminded us how connected we still feel to the community there, in large part because of the love we have for all of you at Bridge. Hope to hear from all of you soon on this site. Good idea, Kel!

Vanessa and I are safe and doing well in Richmond, Texas. We are staying with my family here. Their property did not sustain any damage and we had our power restored just a few hours ago. Praise the Lord!

Word from Galveston is that our apartment weathered the storm well - just a few broken windows and possible roof damage. If this information is correct, we are assuming that our personal belongings are in good condition but will not know for sure until we are able to return to the island.

Judging from other reports, the conditions down there are not well on most of the island. We will return to assess our property when city officials open the island back up, which looks like it could be quite some time. For now, we are planning on staying here in Richmond with our family.

One other note that is important to make is that Odyssey Academy, the charter school that Vanessa teaches at on the island has sustained considerable damage. Reports are that the first floor of the school had 4 feet of water in it, which has now receded, but has left a considerable amount of debris and mud. They have shut down the school indefinitely at this point. We are not sure what that means. They may need some assistance in the future but will probably receive governmental aid as they are a public school.

We look forward to hearing more updates from the rest of our church family!

Trevor and I are in Louisiana at Lake Charles.

Not sure when we'll be heading back, but we'll keep you posted. My phone now has reliable reception so feel free to call on 409 370 9080 any time.

We weathered the storm with the Hannings in Pearland, there is no electricity there hence our escape to Lake Charles.

No news on either my house or Trevor's apartment, but we'll find out when we get to the island.

Praying for you all, do call.

Much love

Naom

Hey all. Click below for an interactive map--it's a satellite view of Galveston as of today. It doesn't look like any of our trees fell on our house!!

Hey all Jody, kids, and I are fine and in Pearland. I got to go to the island. What a mess! But it was good to see home. Everything in the house was fine but our garage and downstairs storage got about three feet of water in it. Both of the church buildings got water as well.
Please let me know how we can help you. A few churches in the area are offering assistance, so don't hesitate to contact me and we will connect you with that. My number is 409.443.9176.

We have heard from several people that our house weathered the storm beautifully. No water came in the house (or the shed even). We may have lost a few shingles. Kel was able to pick up some shifts at the Starbucks around the corner from where we are staying.

Hey all! I'm in Denton with my family. What a week! Its possible that UTMB will send us away to different hospitals, I'll let you know where soon. Possibly Austin, Dallas, or Houston. If you know anyone in those areas that might house an evacuee for a short period of time (weeks) then I would greatly appreciate it! I imagine that every 3/4th year student is in the same position, also PA/PTs. I have no idea was 1st or 2nd year students are going to do. Let us know when you find out, and let us know how to help you if we can!!!

Love you all, can't wait to see you.

Katie

Also heads up, looks like my house got at least 1.5 ft of water. Can't wait to get on the island and assess the real damage! Of course that may be hard to do if they send us away for our clinical rotations.

Hey all! Kody and Elizabeth here...We are in Humble (NE Houston) with my parents. Still no power, but we're doing fine! Praise the Lord for this weather! We saw the satellite image of our apartments, but we still don't know if we have any window damage. Thankfully, we are on the 2nd floor, so no flooding worries, but we're still itching to get down there to really check things out. Our cell phones are working again, so you can reach Elizabeth at 214-298-8744 and Kody at 903-283-4808; also, the house number is 281-852-6610.
I'm still waiting to hear where UTMB is going to place me, and plans are still in the works for Kody with O'Connell. Kody got ahold of another teacher who said the school had flooding in the gym, caffeteria, and add-on building, but it looks like the rest of the school is ok.
Anyway, glad to hear everyone is doing well! Keep us posted on how we can help!
With love,
Elizabeth and Kody

We are going down on Thursday. Anyone else headed that way on Thur? All I know of so far are Kimmie and Daniel.

Also, let me know if anyone needs help with clean-up this weekend. Tim has to work, but I'm available.

Hey Guys,

We're heading down tomorrow early, I think. Hopefully we'll be able to get at least my carpet out. I'm not sure what is going to happen, but I'm probably going to stay with the Hannings as they have a generator.

Let me know when you get back. Also if you have any damage let me know as I'm putting together a database for the Vineyard so when teams come down they can help with each person's clear up.

Love to you all,

Naomi
